List Your Business at the Top Citation Sources and Directories
Business directories are a large part of local SEO strategy. You really want to make sure that your business is listed on all of the main directories. Be certain that your N.A.P. (your Name, Address & Phone Number) as well as your URL are exactly the same on all the sites. Some examples of these are Google, Yelp, Yellow Pages, Super Pages and lots more.
Seek out Listings in Niche Directories
Niche directories are also a great way to build your local SEO. Not only do they provide local businesses a place to list their contact information, but they target a specific industry, meaning the people on the site are specifically looking for what you have to offer. For example, if you are in the wedding industry you would choose to list on WeddingWire.
To find directories in your business try searching Google in a special way. Simply go to Google and type in the following in all lowercase letters: intitle:industry + directory (ex. intitle:weddings + directory or intitle:photography + directory)
Local Geo-Centric Directories
Local directories are directories created and run in a particular geographic area. Adding your company’s name, address and phone number in these directories is a great way to ensure that you are optimizing locally.
intitle:industry + directory (ex. intitle:tampa + directory or intitle:new york + directory)
Mobile is huge. 79% of local searches take place on a mobile device. 59% of users use mobile to find a reputable, local business. 50% of mobile users visit a store within a day after conducting a local search. Think these are impressive statistics? A big part of making sure your local SEO strategy works is optimizing your site for mobile devices. Make sure that you check how your site looks on a mobile device, and list yourself on sites that are mobile-friendly.
